Confidentiality of Drawings
Buyers ask us this before they ask about price, and they are right to. Here is exactly how your drawing is treated once it reaches us.
The principle
A drawing you send us stays yours. So does the specification, the tolerance, the material call-out, the part number, the volume and the price. Every one of them.
We claim nothing in your design
Manufacturing a part to your drawing gives DPS Udyog no right in that design. We do not acquire ownership, we do not acquire a licence beyond making your part, and we make no claim to any improvement that comes out of making it.
Ownership of tooling made specifically for your part is agreed in the quotation for that part, so that it is settled in writing before work begins.
The part is yours alone
A part made against your drawing is not offered, quoted or supplied to any other buyer. Not a single piece. It is not shown to another customer as a sample.
We may display photographs of work we have made, on this website and in our own material, without naming the article or the customer it was made for. A photograph shows the standard of the work and nothing that identifies you or your design. Your drawing, your specification and your name stay confidential, and if you would rather a particular part was not photographed at all, tell us and it will not be.
This is a standing condition of how we work rather than a term to be negotiated at the start of an order, and it holds for as long as we are making the part for you.
Who sees it here
Your drawing is seen by the engineering and production people who need it to quote the job and to make it. It is not circulated further inside the works.
Work that runs through associates
We are straightforward about this. Four processes are ours: CNC pipe bending, welding, powder coating, and buffing and polishing. Others, including precision machining, laser cutting, sheet bending, press work, tool room work, casting, forging and plating, run through associate facilities we have worked with for years.
Where an operation runs outside, only the information that operation needs is shared, and the facility is held to the same duty of confidentiality. Your drawing does not travel further than the work requires.
Storage and return
Drawings are held on controlled storage for as long as we are quoting or manufacturing the part. On request we return them or delete them, except for any copy we are required to keep as a quality or statutory record.
We will sign your agreement
If you have a non-disclosure agreement, send it and we will sign it. It can be in place before you send us anything at all. We would rather do that than ask you to trust a statement on a website.
Sending a drawing safely
Ordinary email is not an encrypted channel. At first contact, describe the part in general terms: what it is, roughly what size, the material, and the annual volume. That is enough for us to tell you whether it suits our works and to reply.
Send the controlled drawing afterwards, once a non-disclosure agreement is in place or by a transfer route you prefer. This is normal practice and it costs you nothing in time.
What is not confidential
This statement does not cover information that is already public, that we already held before you sent it, that we develop independently without reference to your material, or that we are required by law to disclose.
